Latest Photoshoot: Royal Beauty - Behind the Scenes

When I get the opportunity to do a Conceptual Beauty Shoot with an Agency's New Face it is like sailing into uncharted territory ... and I really love that!
There is something really magical and unexpected about exploring an unknown face and its possibilities - a face which has not yet been transformed into many different characters for various amazing Fashion and Beauty stories.
As a makeup artist you are able to suspect the outcome when working with such a New Face, but really ... you just dont know for sure what magical character you are creating until you have finished all makeup and hair.

Last week, I was allowed to explore the beautiful Russian model Katerina's "new face". It was fantastic! Katerina has this wonderful quiet but very expressive and emotional personality, which definitely shows in her pictures ever so beautifully.

The incredible headpiece was designed and created by our talented stylist & fashion designer Natalie Trevis herself. The photographer who set up this flawless lighting scenario creating a shadowless face and thereby stressing the model's beautiful features was the wonderful Billie Muller.

MAKEUP DIFFICULTIES - A Makeup Artist's confession
I had been wanting to work with my white Mac Pro Full Coverage Foundation forever and never got a chance until now!
Whilst I was not happy with some blotches on the side of one of the cheeks where the foundation wasn't supplying full coverage (possibly due to an area of dry skin), I was super pleased when I saw on the test shots that the foundation seemed to disperse the light coming from the flashes, decreasing the visibility of any shameful foundation blotches to nearly zero. Awesome, easy peasy ;)
For the lips I had originally planned to do a red lip with red glitter pressed into it to add a deep sparkle and further dimension to the lip ... looking at the test shots, I realized quickly that the flashes weren't lighting up the glitter as I had intended. It looked matte lacking the intended sparkle. Looking back, I suppose the lipgloss matted the glitter particles. Very sad ;)
So, despite some problems off camera, I am really happy with how the makeup turned out on camera.
